Physical library shelves may not be accessible for some time but online shopping levels continue to rise and become a habit. All of us must be must wondering how this will impact on library services not only now but also post- pandemic in the “new normal”
One trend, Click & Collect – whereby consumers can order online and then collect from the library is a gamechanger. It is successfully supporting many libraries to continue their service, help them deliver a personalised service and maintain customer loyalty. Customers like it because they are used to it as with grocery shopping and also because it’s simple, free and convenient.
It requires slick back office processes and attention to detail and all of this has been thought through in the SOLUS app which does all of this for your service.
I believe it is likely to be something customers will want even when library services do return to “a new normal” I think we will see a need for more and more innovation in our customer communications, our digital presence across our websites, social catalogues and social media. We should begin to think about new opportunities, how do we add value?
Like many of our customers Prescott Library recognised that their physical library shelves may not be accessible for some time. Read below just how Prescott Library are now using the SOLUS click and collect app to enable access to a million items and essential learning resources during lockdown and probably forever too!
The SOLUS app isn’t just your standard manual click and collect but a supersmart, library app that makes it simple for staff and patrons to use the library from anywhere. It enables rapid, efficient, contactless pick up of hold items!
Although the library is closed to the public, Prescott Public Library is still processing an average of 684 checkouts a day and delivers items curbside to 225 people each day.
